How Backpack Wallet delivered Day-1 real-time trading on Monad with Birdeye API
At Monad mainnet launch, Backpack Wallet shipped a production-ready trading experience – powered by a real-time onchain data layer built with Birdeye.

When a new network launches, user expectations don’t reset to “beta.” In an ecosystem-native wallet, every interaction leads to a real onchain action — discovering new tokens, swapping into emerging assets, or participating in early market activity. Users expect speed, clarity, and confidence from the first interaction.
For Backpack Wallet’s Monad mainnet launch, that meant shipping action-ready experiences from Day 1: fast token discovery, accurate real-time pricing, responsive charts, and trustworthy token context — all critical as new assets and liquidity rapidly emerged.
To meet that bar on a tight launch timeline, Backpack partnered with Birdeye as a core component of its real-time onchain data layer.
The challenge — shipping trading-grade UX at network launch
Monad’s mainnet launch was a key ecosystem moment for Backpack. With QA and code-freeze deadlines approaching, the wallet needed to support real economic activity immediately, not incremental enablement post-launch.
Backpack planned to use Birdeye’s APIs for most trading-related functionality inside the wallet. This included:
- Discovering newly launched and trending tokens
- Powering zero-fee in-wallet swaps with accurate pricing and liquidity context
- Rendering responsive charts as markets formed
- Giving users enough information to act confidently during volatile early conditions
Early network launches are inherently dynamic. Token metadata evolves quickly, liquidity shifts rapidly, and incomplete or delayed data can undermine user confidence — particularly when users are swapping or trading newly launched assets.
For the Monad mainnet launch, Backpack also rolled out a dedicated in-wallet launch campaign and collaborated closely with Monad-native token launchpads such as Nad.fun, further increasing early onchain activity and raising the bar for real-time, reliable data. Backpack required an onchain data provider that could support real-time updates, fast integration, and production reliability from Day 1.
The solution — real-time data powering swaps, discovery, and markets
Backpack has built its reputation as a trading-first wallet in the Solana ecosystem, where real-time data is table stakes. To extend that same standard to Monad, Backpack mapped its core trading experiences directly to Birdeye’s onchain data infrastructure.
Key integrations included:
- Real-time multi-token pricing and liquidity, allowing Backpack to keep token lists current as new assets and liquidity emerged during launch
- Token overview and metadata, providing traders with market signals such as volume, liquidity, buy/sell activity, market capitalization, and supply
- Historical price data, enabling responsive in-wallet charting by timestamp
- Trending token discovery, surfacing where trading activity was concentrating across short-term time windows
To accelerate time-to-market, Birdeye enabled Monad support on its existing API infrastructure. This allowed Backpack to integrate, test, and validate using familiar endpoints — without waiting for separate tooling or environments — helping the team meet launch timelines with confidence.
The outcome — a smoother Day-1 trading experience
With Birdeye integrated into its onchain data layer, Backpack delivered a smoother and more confident Day-1 trading experience on Monad: real-time pricing and liquidity, responsive charting, and token pages that matched trader expectations — even during an incentive-driven launch period.
Throughout the launch process, Birdeye worked closely with Backpack to support integration questions and trending-token updates as the ecosystem evolved. The collaboration reflects a shared focus on shipping production-ready trading experiences, even as new networks come online.
“Birdeye plays an important role in Backpack’s onchain data layer. Their API provides reliable token information across multiple networks, enabling real-time pricing and insights within Backpack Wallet. The integration has been smooth, and their team is always quick to support.” — Armani Ferrante, Founder & CEO, Backpack
Looking ahead
Following the Monad launch, Backpack plans to continue expanding its real-time data infrastructure as it supports additional networks and trading experiences. With a production-grade onchain data layer in place, Backpack is positioned to ship launch-day-ready trading experiences without compromising speed, accuracy, or user trust.
