New API: Liquidity OHLC (Pair) – The First Comprehensive Historical Liquidity Dataset for Solana Pools
Birdeye Data now provides the Liquidity OHLC API, enabling developers to convert raw on-chain pool states into historical OHLC data for TVL, token balances, and USD-denominated liquidity.

Birdeye Data now provides the Liquidity OHLC API, transforming raw on-chain pool states into full OHLC time-series for TVL, token balances, and USD-denominated liquidity on Solana.
What’s New?
The GET /defi/v3/liquidity/ohlc/pair endpoint delivers minute-level OHLC candles for the liquidity pool of a given pair address. Unlike traditional APIs limited to current snapshots or price/volume data, this dataset exposes the full historical evolution of a pool’s liquidity structure over time.
Each candle provides a complete picture of the pool state at each time bucket, including:
- Liquidity in USD: Open, High, Low, and Close values.
- Token Balances: Base and quote token balances (both raw and UI amounts).
- Prices: Base and quote prices.
- LP Address Tracking: Identifies the vault/LP address via the
pair_addressfield alongsidebase_mintandquote_mint, enabling attribution of liquidity provider activity per market.
Key parameters for querying and traversing historical data include:
- address: The address of the pair contract you want to query.
- time: Unix timestamp in seconds used as the anchor time for the liquidity candle window. Defaults to the latest available candle.
- direction: Direction to query candles from the anchor time (
backfor older candles, forwardfor newer candles). - count: Determine the number of candles returned per request, with a maximum of 100 results per call.
Why It Matters
For developers, risk analysts, and quants, traditional snapshot APIs are insufficient for analyzing market dynamics. The Liquidity OHLC dataset unlocks an entirely new analytical layer for DeFi market intelligence and risk modeling by offering the following deep benefits for building:
- TradingView-Style Liquidity Charting: Builders can now feed minute-by-minute liquidity depth directly into front-end charting libraries, allowing traders to visually track how deep a pool was during major price swings.
- Deep Liquidity Analytics & LP Tracking: By leveraging the
pair_address, developers can track liquidity provider activity at the pool level to analyze capital efficiency and liquidity concentration. - Abnormal Event Detection & Rug-Risk Surveillance: Reconstruct the full liquidity history of any Solana pair to detect artificial liquidity inflation (e.g., pools showing high TVL but rapidly cycling funds across candles) and identify price manipulation via sudden, malicious liquidity withdrawals.
- Quantitative Backtesting of Liquidity-Driven Strategies: Systematic traders and quant developers can now access the precise historical USD liquidity and token balance data needed to validate slippage models and backtest strategies that rely on liquidity execution conditions.
